These are just as good as his original work. And they’re just as funny and dark, especially the last one—which is also the best. This news is also one of the best things about 2020 so far. In 1976, he drew six cartoons and submitted them to Pacific Search (afterward Pacific Northwest Magazine), a Seattle-based magazine.Larson decided that he could increase his income from cartooning by selling his Nature's Way strip to another newspaper. While on vacation in San Francisco, he pitched his work to the San Francisco Chronicle and, to his surprise, the Chronicle bought the strip and promoted it for syndication, renaming it The Far Side.Two animated versions were produced for television: Tales from the Far Side (1994) and Tales from the Far Side II (1997). A 2007 The Far Side calendar donated all author royalties to Conservation International. The significance of many of Larson's cartoons resulted in a major display of over 400 of his original works at the California Academy of Sciences in 1985.By late 1994, Larson thought the series was getting repetitive and did not want to enter what he called the "Graveyard of Mediocre Cartoons." He retired the strip on January 1, 1995, when he was 44 years old. Since retiring from The Far Side, Larson has done occasional cartoon work, including magazine illustrations and promotional artwork for The Far Side merchandise.The term "thagomizer", a feature of stegosaurus anatomy, was coined in a Far Side cartoon. What impact this unauthorized use has had (and is having) in tangible terms is, naturally, of great concern to my publishers and therefore to me — but it’s not the focus of this letter. My effort here is to try and speak to the intangible impact, the emotional cost to me, personally, of seeing my work collected, digitized, and offered up in cyberspace beyond my control.What a great way to take the edge off of a legal smack-down.It almost makes me want to put up more Far Side cartoons just to see if he'd write us a new one. ;-) R. (Well, not exactly, anyway—like the proverbial tiger and its stripes, I’m pretty much stuck with my sense of humor.I got one, fired it up, and lo and behold, something totally unexpected happened: within moments, I was having fun drawing again. I was stunned at all the tools the thing offered, all the creative potential it contained. I simply had no idea how far these things had evolved.That had always been at the core of what I enjoyed most when I was drawing The Far Side, that sense of exploring, reaching for something, taking some risks, sometimes hitting a home run and sometimes coming up with “Cow tools.” (Let’s not get into that.)

Larson enjoyed drawing as a child but never thought he would become a cartoonist; thus, he never studied art in school outside of required classes. Larson had been inspired to draw comics when he was younger from the strip Alley Oop, and later drew further inspiration from MAD Magazine and the work of Don Martin.In 1976, Larson was working as a cashier at a retail music store when he realized how much he hated his job. Two days into this "career crisis", Larson sat down at his kitchen table and drew six cartoons. The next day, he showed the cartoons to an editor at the local magazine Pacific Search. An anthology first-person shooter, the Far Cry games don’t have a central protagonist or setting but they do typically see players working with freedom fighters to take down oppressive leaders.Over the weekend, Ubisoft accidentally revealed a TV adaptation was in the works. The company shared a news post on their website before swiftly taking it down, but not before fans got a glimpse and shared the news on Reddit. According to Ubisoft’s deleted post, the Far Cry TV show will be an “anthology drama” and each season will be “set in a new world with a different cast of characters following the video game franchise’s signature standalone storytelling format.”A TV adaptation of Far Cry is in the works from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-creator Rob Mac.“It won't shy away from the most absurd parts of humanity”
